An extension of the study period may be granted upon submission of a justified application by the student and approval by the Department Assembly. The extension may not exceed the number of semesters required for the standard duration of the MSc Programme. Accordingly, the maximum permitted duration for completing the Programme is eight (8) academic semesters.
Students who have not exceeded the maximum permitted duration of studies may, upon submission of a justified application to the Department Assembly or the Programme Committee, request a temporary suspension of their studies for a period not exceeding two (2) consecutive semesters. Suspension of studies may be granted for serious reasons, including military service, illness, maternity leave, residence abroad, or other exceptional circumstances.
Applications for suspension of studies must be duly justified and accompanied by all relevant supporting documentation issued by competent public authorities or organisations, substantiating the reasons for the requested suspension.
During the suspension period, student status is temporarily suspended, and participation in any educational or academic activities is not permitted. Semesters during which studies are suspended are not counted towards the maximum permitted duration of studies.
